Koelsch Communities Goes Tech-Heavy at Jefferson House Memory Care
Kirkland, WA (January 2019)—Koelsch Communities, a leader in senior living for 60 years, has been adding some robust technological advancements in their memory care communities that increase resident safety, staff efficiency and overall benefits to their consumer, and Jefferson House will be a prime example.
Jefferson House Memory Care, opening in May of 2019, will offer 60 apartments and serve 80 seniors in a stunning three-story community with ground floor parking and two floors created specifically to serve the needs of those with dementia, with a project cost is $24,000,000.
Like other Koelsch memory care communities, Jefferson House will have 24/7 on-site licensed nurses, secured and covered parking, and reminiscent therapy through ‘historical surprises,’ such as Julia Child’s 1950’s classic baking kitchen, and Emmett’s Garage equipped with an antique car—but some of the most impressive and often overlooked features are in the $100,000 technology system.
Jefferson House technology is primarily focused around resident safety—a crucial aspect of memory care. Jefferson House will use e-check in systems, advanced camera systems to easily track residents’ locations, and even layers of perimeter security to ward off unwanted intruders from the community. These features might sound standard, but Koelsch has bolstered security with an Avigilon 24-hour video surveillance system, for example.
Terry Hanson, Vice President of Development for Koelsch Communities commented, “The Avigilon video surveillance system is used by the likes of Nordstrom and Century Link Field, and is arguably the most effective video monitoring system available.”
Hanson continued, “Additionally, we’ve implemented high-end access control systems to monitor and allow access into the community both during and after hours. Everything will be accessible from multiple locations, both on-site and remotely, giving us the tools to keep our resident’s safety set to the highest standards.”
Jefferson House residents will benefit from a highly advantageous e-check in system allowing them to simply let staff know if they are okay or in need of help with the press of a button located on a small mobile device that can easily fits inside pockets or purses.
The 24-hour nursing staff at Jefferson House is also equipped with the latest healthcare tools, giving residents the best in healthcare technology, an often-overlooked benefit in a world of amenities.
