Scottsdale, AZ (March 25, 2016) – Amber Creek Inn is proud to present an international program called Memory & Music. What started in 2006 as a personal playlist idea for nursing home residents in New York has transformed into a wildly successful non-profit organization. The Music & Memory Program will feature performances by Charles Lewis and Shannon Wallace, guest speaker Dr. Maribeth Gallagher and a special viewing of the Alive Inside Documentary.
Rhonda Thiel, Executive Director, is passionate about implementing the Music and Memory program at Amber Creek. “It is an imperative part of our Personal Touch program; we are always looking for ways to reach our residents on a deep and meaningful level. Music is one of the pathways we use to enrich our resident’s lives,” Rhonda says.
Charles Lewis, Arizona Hall of Fame Jazz pianist, will be performing and presenting. His performances involve the audience and incorporate art by having the residents draw a picture of what they are hearing. Mr. Lewis will discuss how he brings the music “live” and be accompanied by the beautiful jazz voice of Shannon Wallace.
Dr. Maribeth Gallagher, Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Program Director and national speaker for Music & Memory, will share scientific research examining how music continues to bring comfort and joy well into the advanced stages of dementia.
Together with Copper Creek Inn and Silver Creek Inn, Amber Creek Inn Memory Care is excited to host this one-time event. Please join us for the program, our silent auction and 50/50 raffle where all proceeds go to the music program.
