The veterans of Sterling Inn in Victorville, were honored in an uplifting ceremony, "Honor Our Veterans." In her tribute, Chaplain Marjorie Williams spoke of the service and the sacrifice that veterans gave to preserve our liberty, our nation’s freedom and democracy.
Williams expressed the appreciation of those who attended the ceremony as a reflection of America as a nation. Each of the veterans proudly accepted their pin and certificate from Naval Lt. Cmdr. Lance Kruse, who thanked and saluted each recipient. The veterans, those who could stand, stood tall and proudly accepted the tokens of appreciation and crisply returned the salute.
Family members shared in the ceremony and a history of each veteran’s service was read while they received their pins. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as everyone sang patriotic songs and saluted the flag, while the audience felt a deep sense of pride, admiration and gratefulness. U.S. Representative, D. Lipinski said, “Let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much that we can live free.”
